go to My Documents>My Games>Fallout 4. The Saves folder, Falloutprefs, and Fallout4 all need full control set for HomeUsers. For all 3 click properties, then the security tab, then the edit tab, click on HomeUsers, then check the full control box, then apply. Now you can change the video options and the in game saves will work.
Issues related to game saves on PC often occur due to the user's security privileges on the machine they are playing on. If you are experiencing issues viewing or creating new saves in your game, you should check your PC for any software which prevents writing new files and the game folders to ensure that you have write permissions enabled.
The problem is a ways in it just stopped showing any new saves in the game. I looked in the save folder and it has a bunch of saves numbered 83 so it must not be able to see any of them. I backed it up and deleted all the ones in slot 83 except the newest, but it still isn't showing up. I checked and read-only is off.

Your saves are stored in Documents/my games/Fallout 4/Saves. What you can do is create a .zip archive with those you want to keep on your laptop, send them to your email address or whatever, and delete them from your pc. You can also get a free file transfer protocol FTP service like Dropbox or Mediafire account.

Maybe. Bring up the load game window where you can't see your quicksave, but you can see A save. Find that save (that you can see in-game) on your hard drive. Now use a program like 'LinkShellExtension', which creates junction points, to create a 'Symbolic link'.

Whenever the game autosaves or you manually save, the game reads EVERY save you have. This WILL affect performance and slow your game to a crawl if you have a lot of save files. You can "fix" this by deleteing old saves and better yet, disable autosave. Right, erm not. So if it needed to read every save file (which it doesn't do). Workaround is to take off the eyewear, save, quit to desktop, then relaunch and put the eyewear back on. In my experience, dying and having the game itself load the quicksave does not cause the issue. Only the quickload function seems to. I haven't yet tested hard saving and then manually loading that hard save. 1. In your Windows user profile>documents>my games>Fallout4. #5. MantiSynth Jan 26, 2018 @ 4:19pm. Hacksaw999. • 6 yr. ago. Yes, as a bonus you will probably see faster load times as well once you get rid of the old ones. One recommendation, don't delete them right away. Move them to another folder and make sure the save you want is the one that's left. Then you can delete them. I have a bunch of folders with saves from my various characters.

Anyway, I was a few hours into the game and it auto saved. I died by running off a cliff (lol) but the game didn't load my auto save, it loaded a manual save file. I went to the load screen to load the auto save, but it wasn't showing up. Curious, I tried to make a new save file by saving manually. Sure enough, the save file didn't show up when The files are in my save data on my ps4. I did transfer all my data from my old ps4 to my new pro a few months back but if I had no issue with other saved data. I've tried starting a new game and loading it then but the save files dont show up, the only one there is the auto save from this new playthrough!
On Windows, you can find your save game files in ‘My Documents’. This is a library folder on your computer where most documents and save files are stored, you’ll specifically want to look inside the ‘My Games’ folder once inside ‘My Documents’. Inside the ‘My Games’ folder, you should now be able to spot the Fallout4 folder.
Using NMM to install a few mods, launching game, click on NEW GAME and it just loads infinitely. Experienced modding since TES3, and can tell it's not a mod issue (using NMM, 33 mods - I like to keep things vanilla with some QoL stuff). Noticed 2 things: 1. plugins.txt keeps switching to read-only, despite editing attributes (using LOOT to sort confirms this, already tried bypassing launcher
In case you save again to the same name, the last save will be renamed to mygame.fos.bak so you still have a (single!) back up. In my case I play on survival and assigned a hotkey F5 to save quicksave, so I get the sleep saves in that strange naming and backup schema and my quicksave.fos, quicksave.fos.bak from my manual saves.
Now, one good way to delete the game and all mod stuff is use the control panel 'uninstall' a program (Fallout 4) to get rid of all even the mods. Also delete all your saves. They will be in User/Documents/My Games/Fallout 4/Saves. Just delete the files that show up under the Saves and nothing else. set your graphics options then exit. see if the Documents\My Games\Fallout4 folder was created. if not check windows security/controlled folder access. if on add exceptions for the game launcher and game. see if these files are in the folder. Fallout4Prefs.ini Fallout4Custom.ini Fallout4.ini files were created/written. Use hard saves as you play through, not quick saves or exit saves. If you don't see enemies or NPC's showing up where they should, exit the game completely (to desktop, not just main menu), and re-load the game. If that doesn't work and you've used quick saves or exit saves to reload the game, start from the most recent hard save.
Neither "Buffout 4" or "Address Library for F4SE Plugins" should be showing up as MODs in MO2. They are plugin utilities for FASE, not game MODs. upon further investigation and a separate post, "Buffout 4" and "Address Library for F4SE Plugins" can be run from MO2, even though the Buffout Guide, specific states to manually install Buffout 4.
